| What do you enjoy about your job? What aspects of your job are the most exciting or interesting? | ||
| It has the perfect balance between academic research, lobbying, fieldwork and public sector work. I have the chance to travel within the country, Ecuador, deal with national and local authorities and research and develop policy schemes. |
||
| Why did you choose to pursue an MPA/MPP degree? | ||
| After finishing my law degree in Ecuador, I started working to develop environmental policy. I needed policymaking skills and a good understanding of public management in order to pursue my career goals. Public administration was the best way to do it. |
||
| How did you select your graduate school? | ||
| I met a faculty member in my home country. He led me to the Center for Public Policy and Administration CPPA at UMASS. I think CPPA has some of the best resources to pursue studies in public policy and administration, with a great academic background, besides the permanent interest in knowing more about the students and its interests. It was a great experience for me, being from another country. |
||
| How do you feel your MPA/MPP is helping you to make a difference? | ||
| My MPA degree has given me a considerable advantage over other consultants in the field, since I am able to introduce different and new ways to design public policy in my home country. |
||
| How would you characterize your personality? | ||
| * Rigorous * Good under pressure * Teacher * Committed * Flexible * Independent * People person * Diplomatic * Analytical * |
