What do you enjoy about your job? What aspects of your job are the most exciting or interesting?
Most of all I enjoy the opportunities to interact with people. On the national level I work with MP's, appointed officials, and it is amazing to be able to influence, even just a little, the minds of those who create policies for further sustainable development of the country

Why did you choose to pursue an MPA/MPP degree?
This degree allowed me to learn a wide array of topics relating to governance and public policy.

How did you select your graduate school?
I did not select the school I attended because I was a Muskie fellow. The program did the selection in advance. I am happy that I was able to attend ECU, as its program and faculty gave me exactly what I was looking for and when/where they had no established courses, faculty were very kind and helped me to design my own self study program.

How do you feel your MPA/MPP is helping you to make a difference?
This is a difficult equation, I apply my knowledge everywhere, not only at work but in my public life as well. Within the last 6 years since I have graduated from ECU, I have engaged in various projects/programs. I was able to work closely and help the costal area population in improving their capacity to promote environmental issues and helping young people to improve their presentation, proposal writing and other skills. I have assisted the student members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers at the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute in further building their organization. During these 6 years I have been nominated for various awards and fellowships i.e Yale summer scholar fellowship on Central Asian Studies in 2001 and Muskie of the Year award which recognized my professional achievements in 2002.

How would you characterize your personality?
* Team worker * Compassionate * Creative * Organized * Committed * Flexible * Curious * Independent * Diplomatic * Analytical *
