Andrew Laming began his career in medicine, not in politics. After graduating with his medical degree, he became a researcher at the Menzies School of Health, where he was involved in the creation of breakthrough drugs for the treatment of trachoma among Aboriginals. Laming also worked to find improved treatments for diabetes. He returned to school to earn his MPA and MPP. In 2004, Laming was elected to the House of Representatives, representing Bowman. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. Laming has worked to improve educational facilities, expand medical care for senior citizens, and increase job growth. |
