The department of Urban Affairs and Geography offers a Master of Public Administration degree. The mission of the Master of Public Administration program at Wright State University is to prepare students to be public and nonprofit administrators in a complex political, cultural, economic and global environment. The credentials, research and public service of the faculty support students interested in concentrating their public administration studies in sub-fields of management, planning, development, and communication.

The Master of Public Administration program meets the needs of practitioners seeking career advancement and students pursuing an advanced degree with the desire to begin a professional public service career. To best serve our students we emphasize (1) basic and innovative concepts and practices required of public and nonprofit administrators; (2) a curriculum structured to enhance competencies in the areas of analytic and conceptual skills, problem solving, organizational management, written and oral communication, and ethical conduct; and (3) flexible course scheduling to accommodate working students. In addition, the MPA program enlists the services of senior public and nonprofit administrators and program alumni to serve on its Advisory Board in concert with a student representative and MPA faculty.

Our MPA program provides a unique urban focus and offers the opportunity to experience life an urban community in the Midwestern US. Emphasis is placed on creating and maintaining an environment that fosters academic collaboration and support in the WSU MPA program.
