Coupled with the highly ranked and accredited graduate programs is one of the most distinguishing characteristics of the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy: the integration of theory and practice through the “Delaware Model.” Not only do students learn about the latest theories related to their field, but they also make a real difference by applying those theories to real-world problems to improve the community, the state, and the world.
Bringing this model to fruition, there are extensive opportunities for students to participate in applied research projects. Students work closely with faculty and staff on research projects and instructors are easily accessible to provide assistance and advice. Students also interface with practitioners in the field through contacts during internships and with professionals who are part-time students enrolled in the program. International students are eligible to apply for one of our research assistantships, which cover a full tuition scholarship for fall and spring semester tuition and an academic year stipend of $13,000. Last year, over 80% of full-time students were awarded full financial aid, consisting of over 100 research assistantships totaling over $2.5 million. |
