The H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management takes a unique approach to international policy by integrating policy, management and technology in a skills-based, professional education, preparing men and women of intelligent action. A part of the internationally-renowned, interdisciplinary Carnegie Mellon University, the Heinz School, ranked consistently at the top of Public Affairs graduate programs, is dedicated to creating knowledge capable of supporting intelligent action in the service of the public interest, and to training leaders capable of using that knowledge to change the world.

Though originally founded as a domestic and urban policy school, we are increasingly more international in scope, through: an expanding curriculum; capstone project courses for international NGO clients; internships abroad; and active, student-run organizations such as the International Policy Club and the Diversity Initiative. Our student body is approximately one-third international, with even more having lived and worked abroad, including a strong contingent of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers through our partnership with the Peace Corps Fellows/USA Program. We are increasing our international presence with a Heinz School campus in Adelaide, South Australia, which will also add to our exchange existing opportunities for students and faculty, in Qatar, Mexico, the Netherlands, and more. With a program emphasizing marketable, quantitative and qualitative tools for policy and management, valuable across all sectors and policy fields, our graduates are well prepared to make an impact in the world.
